System Alerts in the Trane® Home App
|
It is now possible to receive a system alert in the Trane Home app when your HVAC system reports a critical error code; these alerts were previously only visible on the thermostat.
A critical error code indicates that one or more primary components (e.g., heat pump, air conditioner, furnace, air handler) of the system are inoperative. Critical errors require immediate attention from an HVAC technician.
|
★ Please note that System Alerts are only available for critical errors. ★ Non-critical errors are visible only on the thermostat itself. |
Thermostat Capabilities
The following thermostats are capable of reporting critical alerts in the Trane Home app:
- Trane and American Standard XL824/850/1050
- Trane Link (UX360)
All others cannot report critical errors in the app, including:
- Trane and American Standard XL950
- Trane and American Standard XR724
- All Z-Wave thermostats
Receiving System Alerts
-
To receive System Alerts in the Trane Home app, you must first opt into Trane Diagnostics. This can be done in the mobile app or on the web portal.
- After opting into Trane Diagnostics, ensure alerts for your thermostat(s) are selected for each contact who should receive them. You must do this from the Trane Home web portal, and you can find the instructions here: Setting and Managing Alerts - Managing Contacts and Alerts.
Alert Display
System Alerts appear differently depending on whether or not the thermostat is assigned to a dealer.
NOTE: The home name, thermostat name, and error code will vary. If the thermostat name makes the push notifications too long, it will be truncated, but the full message will still appear in Alerts on the mobile app.
-
If the thermostat is assigned to a dealer, the alert will appear as follows:
[Home name]: Critical alert detected on [thermostat name]. Call your Trane® dealer and provide them with alert code [error ID]. Your dealer can be found in the app under thermostat settings > HVAC Service Information. Push Notification Alert in Trane Home App
-
If the thermostat is not assigned to a dealer, the alert will appear as follows:
[Home name]: Critical alert detected on [thermostat name]. Call your Trane® dealer and provide them with alert code [error ID]. You can search for a dealer in the app under thermostat settings > HVAC Technician Search. Push Notification Alert in Trane Home App
