Trane Home Beta App - Adjusting Temperature
We encourage customers who have been invited to join the Trane Home app beta release to use the beta version as much as possible and send your honest feedback to hello@tranehome.com.
Should you want to switch between the classic Trane Home app experience and the beta version, you can do so easily.
The Trane Home beta app allows you to temporarily override the temperatures set in your Home and Bedtime routines. You can also permanently override setpoints for any routine to make lasting changes.
NOTE: The Away routine does not allow you to temporarily override the temperature. To change the setpoints for the Away routine, please follow the instructions to change the setpoints permanently.
How To Temporarily Override Setpoints
The temporary override options available in the app are determined by whether your HVAC system is in Heating, Cooling, or Auto mode.
In Heating Mode
- Press the plus sign above the large flame icon to temporarily increase your heating setpoint.
- Press the minus sign below the large flame icon to temporarily decrease your heating setpoint.
In Cooling Mode
- Press the plus sign above the large snowflake icon to temporarily increase your cooling setpoint.
- Press the minus sign below the large snowflake icon to temporarily decrease your cooling setpoint.
In Auto Mode
- Press the plus sign above the large flame icon to temporarily increase your heating setpoint.
- Press the minus sign below the large flame icon to temporarily decrease your heating setpoint.
- Press the plus sign above the large snowflake icon to temporarily increase your cooling setpoint.
- Press the minus sign below the large snowflake icon to temporarily decrease your cooling setpoint.
How To End a Temporary Override
Temperature changes made using the process above are temporary. By default, the temporary override will end at the scheduled start of the next routine. You can select a different end time or end the override at any time and return to your routine.
The time the override is currently scheduled to end will appear in a bubble below the temporary setpoints.
To end the override at a different time, you can choose to either schedule a new end time or use the End Now function to end the override immediately.
Reschedule the End Time
- Select Until <time>....
- Touch the current end time.
- Select a new end time by scrolling up or down for hour, minute, and AM/PM. Press OK when finished.
- Tap Save to apply the new end time.
- A box will briefly appear indicating how much time is left in the override, and the new time the override is scheduled to end will appear in a bubble below the temporary setpoints.
End Now
Use the End Now function to immediately stop the temporary override and return to the setpoints configured in your routine.
How To Permanently Change Setpoints
For longer-lasting changes, you can permanently modify your setpoints. There are two methods for accessing permanent setpoint changes. Once the setpoint Edit screen is accessed, the methods are identical.
Access Setpoints Using the Routine Function

Touch the Routine button on the bottom of the screen.
- Choose either Away or Bedtime.
- Tap the temperature display under the routine name.
- Jump to Editing Setpoints.

- Below the current temperature, select the bubble to the right of the current routine, containing the small setpoint numbers.
- Jump to Editing Setpoints.

The three routines will appear with your current routine selected by default. If you want to modify the setpoints for a different routine, select it from the list.
- Tap the arrow next to Heat To or Cool To.
- Select your desired temperature from the list; you can scroll up and down to see the full list.
- After changing one of the setpoints, the mobile app will return to the Routines screen and display a message indicating that your setpoint changes were saved.
- To change additional setpoints, repeat steps 1-3.
