How to Rename Devices
You can easily rename your Trane Home® devices through the Trane Home mobile app or web portal. You can use the links below to jump to the desired section.
In the Mobile App
- Log into the Trane Home mobile app.
- If you have multiple homes, select the home you wish to change.
- Select the device you wish to change.
- Tap the name of the device/pencil icon at the top of the screen.
- Delete the current name and enter the desired name. Press Go/Done/Return (depending on your device) when finished.
- The new name will now be displayed on the thermostat control panel in the portal, in the mobile app, and in any Event History.
On the Web Portal
There are two different processes for renaming a device on the Trane Home web portal. The process you will use depends on the type of device you want to rename.
XL Thermostats (XL824/XL850/XL1050)

- Log into the Trane Home web portal.
- If you have multiple homes, select the home you wish to change.
- Select Climate from the menu on the left side of the page.
- Locate the thermostat you wish to change and click Menu.
- Select Settings.
- Select System Name.
- Click into the text box where the current name is displayed and delete the text.
- Enter the desired name and click Apply.
- The new name will now be displayed on the thermostat control panel in the portal, in the mobile app, and in any Event History.
All Devices Except XL Thermostats

- Log into the Trane Home web portal.
- If you have multiple homes, select the home you wish to change.
- Identify the category of device you are changing (camera, sensor, switch, etc.) and select the appropriate category from the grey menu on the left side of the page.

Once in the selected category, locate the device you want to change and select Edit Settings.
- Click into the text box where the current name is displayed and delete the text.
- Enter the desired name, and click Save Changes.
- The new name will now be displayed on the thermostat control panel in the portal, in the mobile app, and in any Event History.
