How to Rename Devices

You can easily rename your Trane®-enabled devices through either the Trane Home web portal or the Trane Home Mobile App.

Renaming in the Web Portal

To Rename an XL Thermostat (XL824/XL850/XL1050):

1. Log into the Trane Home web portal.
2. If you have multiple homes, select the home you wish to change.
   
3. Select Climate from the menu on the left side of the page.
   
4. Locate the thermostat you wish to change and click Menu.
   
5. Select Settings.
   
6. Select System Name.
   
7. Click into the text box where the current name is displayed and delete the text.
   
8. Enter the desired name and click Apply.
   
9. The new name will now be displayed in the thermostat control panel in the portal as well as in the mobile app and any Event History.
   

To Rename Other Devices:

1. Log into the Trane Home web portal.
2. If you have multiple homes, select the home you wish to change.
   
3. Identify the category of device you are changing (camera, sensor, switch, etc.) and select the appropriate category from the grey menu on the left side of the page. 
   
   
4. Once in the selected category, locate the device you wish to change and select Edit Settings.
   
5. Click into the text box where the current name is displayed and delete the text.
   
6. Enter the desired name, and click Save Changes.
7. The new name will now be displayed in the thermostat control panel in the portal as well as in the mobile app and any Event History.
   
   

Renaming in the Mobile App

1. Log into the Trane Home mobile app.
2. If you have multiple homes, select the home you wish to change.
   
3. Select the device you wish to change.
   
4. Tap the name of the device/pencil icon at the top of the screen.
   
5. Delete the current name and enter the desired name. Press Go/Done/Return (depending on your device) when finished.
   
6. The new name will now be displayed in the thermostat control panel in the portal as well as in the mobile app and any Event History.
