How To Enroll Trane® XL824/824B, XL850, and XL1050
Wireless Smart Thermostats
When you enroll your Trane wireless smart thermostat in Trane Home, you can view and control your home's heating and cooling system from virtually any smartphone or internet connection. Additionally, you can view weather information directly from your thermostat, including the outdoor temperature, five-day forecast, local radar, and weather alerts.
You must create a Trane Home account in order to register your thermostat. For information on creating an account, please see How To Create a Trane® Home Account.
1. Connect to WiFi
If you have not already done so, connect your thermostat to your local WiFi connection:

On your XL824/850/1050 thermostat, press Menu.

Tap Settings.

Select Network.

Press Connect to WiFi Network.
- Choose your secure WiFi network and enter the password. You will see a message on the screen if it is successful. Problems connecting to WiFi?

Press Home to return to the thermostat home screen.
2. Connect to Trane Home
Connect your thermostat to the Trane Home network to prepare it to receive the verification code:
- On your XL824/850/1050 thermostat, press Menu.

Select Smart Home.
- Press Next to proceed.
- Read and accept the License Agreement.

The thermostat will prompt you to enter the 5-digit registration (verification) code.

- Enter the newly generated code on the thermostat and press Next.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete enrollment.
3. Obtain the Verification Code
A verification code is part of the XL824/824B, XL850, and XL1050 Control enrollment process. This 5-digit code is used to register your thermostat to your Trane® Home account.
Obtain the verification code from the Trane Home web portal or mobile app as shown below.:
Mobile App
- Log into the Trane Home mobile app.
- If you have multiple homes, select the home where you are enrolling the thermostat.
- Tap the menu button in the upper left corner.
- Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select Connect New Device.
- Select American Standard® or Trane® smart thermostat: 824, 850, or 1050 model.
- Click Continue.

The 5-digit activation code will appear on the screen and you will have 10 minutes to complete the rest of the enrollment process.

- Enter the 5-digit code into your thermostat and press Next.
- Follow the on-screen prompts on the thermostat to complete the setup process.

The app will redirect to the Dashboard and display a message confirming the successful enrollment and you will be able to see your new thermostat.
- NOTE: The system automatically applies the name "Thermostat" followed by a number to each new thermostat. To rename your thermostat, please review the process outlined in How to Rename Devices.
Web Portal
- Log into the Trane Home web portal.
- If you have multiple homes, select the home where you are enrolling the thermostat.
- Click Add Devices.
- Select Thermostats.
- Click Enroll for your thermostat model.
- Click Continue.

The system will generate the verification code and display it on the page.

- Enter the 5-digit code on your thermostat and press Next.
- Follow the on-screen prompts in the portal and on the thermostat to complete the setup process and name your thermostat.
