AWAIR® Element™ Integration with Trane® Home - FAQs
How is this different from just using the Awair app?
The Awair app is intended to be used for initial device setup and for more IAQ sensor details, education, and suggestions regarding the data.
The Trane Home app allows you to integrate the device with your HVAC system, much like you would with any other Z-Wave device. This allows you easy access to the device reading, right from the Trane Home app.
Why should I pair Awair Element with my Trane Home mobile app and HVAC system?
By integrating Awair Element air quality device with your Trane Home app and enabling the fan automation, it allows your HVAC system to take action to run your fan when the CO₂, Chemicals, or PM2.5 score drops below green (score of 80).
What does the fan automation do? How long does the fan run?
If any one of the CO₂, Chemicals, or PM2.5 scores drops below green, the Trane Home app triggers an automation that will run the HVAC fan.
Currently, the fan will run for one hour to circulate air throughout your home.
Will I get an alert from the Trane Home app when my Awair Score reaches a certain low level?
This feature is not available in the Trane Home app today, however, you can enable notifications from the Awair app. For more information, please refer to How To Use Your Awair Home App - Your Notifications in the Awair help center.
How can I tell that the automation is turning on my fan?
You can check your Events in the Trane Home app to confirm the automation.
Just visit the main menu, click on Events, and when you see a "Device Event" turning on the fan, it could be because your Awair Score dropped to a certain level and the automation turned on your fan. Please note that if you have schedules or other automations enabled, these could also turn on the fan.
Which Awair devices work with the Trane Home mobile app?
Your Trane Home app can be integrated with Awair Element, the residential air quality device.
Can I pair multiple Awair devices with my Trane Home mobile app?
Yes! You can pair as many Awair devices with your Trane Home app as you'd like.
If I have multiple thermostats in my house, can I make my Awair device integrate with just one of them so it is controlling only a certain area of my house?
Yes! You can choose to link your Awair Element to a specific thermostat through the Trane Home mobile app.
If I've opted into Diagnostics, what data can my dealer see for my air quality?
Your dealer will be able to see the CO₂, Chemicals, and PM2.5 air quality scores reported by your Awair Element device over the last 30 days, layered next to data from your HVAC system. This will help your dealer diagnose issues and offer expert advice for improving the air quality in your home.
Where can I learn more about what my Awair air quality reading means?
You can learn more about the specific air quality factors and what they mean on the Awair Support site here: Awair Element - Awair Support.
Who should I reach out to if I have consistently poor air quality or other air quality concerns, such as allergies or asthma?
Feel free to reach out to your dealer with any air quality questions or concerns you may have! They may be able to offer you additional solutions to help improve your air quality. Please see Finding Dealer Information for help finding a dealer or locating your dealer's contact information.
