Replacing Your Bridge
Replacing your current bridge can be time-consuming for larger Z-Wave® networks, whether you replace it with the same model or a different one. However, you can greatly simplify the process by backing up your network first. It is a good practice to back up your bridge anytime you make a change to your Trane® Home network.
To Replace Your Bridge
-
Back up your bridge/network by following the instructions detailed here: Bridge Backup and Restore.
-
NOTE: You can only restore your existing configurations to the new bridge if your backup is successful. If the backup is successful, you will see a message confirming its success. If you see any other message, your backup did not work and you will need to try again.
-
-
Once you have successfully completed the backup, click Remove Bridge.
-
Confirm that you want to proceed by clicking Remove Bridge in the pop-up dialogue. Once you confirm, you will be immediately redirected to the Home Information screen.
-
Click Add Devices in the left frame of the page.
-
Your next step will depend on what kind of bridge you are installing. Is the replacement a standalone bridge (BR100 or BR200) or an XXL-series thermostat (XL824/824B, XL850, or XL1050)?
-
BR100 or BR200 Standalone Bridge:
-
Select Enroll next to the Z-Wave Bridge option at the top of the list.
-
Follow the on-screen prompts to walk through the enrollment process.
-
-
XXL-Series Wireless Smart Thermostat (XL824/824B, XL850, or XL1050):
-
Select Thermostats to expand the list of thermostat models.
-
Locate the model of your thermostat in the list and click Enroll.
-
Follow the on-screen prompts to walk through the enrollment process.
-
-
-
Once enrollment is complete, your bridge should automatically begin to restore from the backup you made in Step 1.
If the Bridge Fails to Restore After Enrollment
