Signal Optimization
The placement of your Trane® Home devices is crucial to getting the best possible signal.
If there are objects in your home that interfere with communication between the bridge and your other devices, some devices may work intermittently or not at all. Some Trane Home devices can act as repeaters, meaning they can repeat a signal from the bridge to another device and vice versa.
★ This illustration shows you how to place devices to ensure communication throughout your Trane Home system. ★
Additional Troubleshooting
-
Check the environment for objects that may cause interference.
-
Are there any appliances between the bridge and other devices? If this is an existing network, were any appliances added, replaced, or moved recently?
-
Is there any furniture between the bridge and other devices? If this is an existing network, was any furniture added, replaced, or moved recently?
-
If you own repeaters, such as switches or lighting/appliance modules --
-
-
- Are your repeaters being blocked by any objects? If this is an existing network, is there anything that may be blocking a repeater that wasn't before?
- Was a repeater moved? For example, if you moved a lamp to another location, did you move the repeater with the lamp? If the repeater was moved, it may be unable to repeat the signal between the bridge and another device
- Restore any missing repeaters and modify the placement of household objects and/or Trane Home devices to allow for clear communication, as per the illustration above.
-
-
-
-
How far from the device in question is the bridge?
-
The maximum range is dependent on the model/type of bridge, but we recommend minimizing the distance between the bridge, repeaters, and other devices whenever possible.
-
