XL950 Firmware Updates

The XL950 is a legacy thermostat, and new firmware updates are no longer being developed. The final version of the firmware was version 4.0.4.

You can check the firmware version by going to Help→About and looking at the Release Version.

Updating to version 4.0.4 is only necessary if the thermostat is missing the "Nexia Home Intelligence" icon, as it was not in the initial release.
Updating the firmware will not provide new features or improve functionality other than allowing the thermostat to be used remotely if it is still running the original release.

Please note that the server that hosted the XL950 thermostat firmware updates was decommissioned, therefore it is no longer possible to use the update feature of the thermostat. Any attempt to use the update feature will always result in an error.

If you would like to upgrade your XL950 thermostat firmware to version 4.0.4, your dealer can apply the update via the SD card slot. If your dealer does not know how to do this, they may contact us for instructions. The firmware is available only to HVAC dealers; it is not available to homeowners for download and is not distributed by Trane Home Support.
