General Tips

At this time, start all commands by saying:  "Alexa", followed by your request.  If the command fails, try different wording, or consider renaming a device to a simpler term.  Trane® will continue to monitor voice performance and make improvements.  Alexa will not allow the control of secure devices like door locks and garage door openers.

When setting up voice-assisted devices, it is best to avoid the following naming conventions for your Trane Home-enabled devices:

• Misspellings or complex names
• Numbers
• Special characters

Commands

• Thermostats

  • “Alexa, set Kitchen temperature to 72 degrees”
  • “Alexa, increase Kitchen temperature by 4 degrees”
  • “Alexa, decrease Kitchen temperature by 4 degrees”
  • “Alexa, increase Kitchen temperature" - 2-degree increments
  • “Alexa, decrease Kitchen temperature” - 2-degree increments
  • "Alexa, set Kitchen to cool"
  • "Alexa, set Kitchen to heat"
  • "Alexa, set Kitchen to auto"
  • "Alexa, set Kitchen to off"
  • "Alexa, what temperature is it (thermostat name)?"
  • "Alexa, what is the (thermostat name) set to?"
    
    

• Switches

  • "Alexa, turn on the living room light" 
  • "Alexa, turn off the living room light" 
    
    

• Lights

  • "Alexa, turn on the Bedroom light"
  • "Alexa, turn off the Bedroom light"
  • "Alexa, set the Bedroom light to 50%"
  • "Alexa, brighten the Bedroom light"
  • "Alexa, dim the Bedroom light"
    
    

• Color Light Bulbs

  • "Alexa, set the (light name) to green"
  • "Alexa, set the (light name) to warm"
    
    

• Dimmers

  • "Alexa, set the (dimmer name) to 50 percent"
  • "Alexa, brighten the (dimmer name)" - Increases by 25%
  • "Alexa, dim the (dimmer name)" - Decreases by 25%
    
    

• Fans

  • "Alexa, turn on the (fan name)"
  • "Alexa, turn off the (fan name)"
  • "Alexa, set the (fan name) to 50 percent"
    
    

• Locks

  • Amazon will not control locks or garage door openers due to security concerns.
    
    

• Blinds

  • "Alexa, turn on (blind name)" - Opens blinds
  • "Alexa, turn off (blind name)" - Closes blinds
  • "Alexa, set (blind name) to 50 percent" - Opens blinds halfway
    
    

• Automation

  • "Alexa, turn on (automation name)"
